No can deny that the veteran Leftists were responsible for creating UPA and let Congress lead it.They might have been helpful to the UPA govt., in the beginning, in evolving policies. But due credit is due to Congress for implementing pro-people programmes.Thanks to the 'megalomania' of Comrade Karat,the Left stabbed the UPA at a very critical juncture and under false pretext.Not content with reducing the ruling coalition to a minority status, he impelled the President to let the PM seek a Trust Vote! To vote UPA out,he did not hesitate to join with BJP!As if to add insult to injury, he started forming the Third Front with a number of parties!In his home state, Kerala, he wanted to play Madani,a cleric against IUML, with his "Lal Salam!"TheMuslim Voters of W.Bengal and Kerala ditched his party.Thus, he who wanted to be an undertaker of Congress was left out s the undertaker of Communism in India!

Anonymous--I am not obssessed. If you writing something on Indian politics, it is impossible (and also unjustifiable) to ignore BJP which is the second mainstream pan-Indian party other than Congress.

Frankly, I was much more angry with Congress than any other party till a few years back. For lot of problems in the country, Congress has to be blamed as it has ruled the nation for first forty years and later also. Babri Masjid demolition was a major turning point and Cong had to be blamed for it.

I tell you had it not been Gujarat riots, a section of Muslims might have voted for it. Earlier, Muslims were a rare sight in BJP but in the last 8-10 years, there is a huge Muslim cadre in BJP and Muslims have joined it.

BJP should apologise for Gujarat riots. It must reach out to Muslims, and may be Muslims, who aren't enamoured by Congress, start voting for it. It's politics and BJP might do it as well, just to divide Muslim vote. Who knows!

I think you are obsessed with the BJP. Clearly, even if the BJP had a plan (which I think it does) you are never going to acknowledge it or vote for the BJP.
For all of your rant, it is the BJP states that have had the best development in rural areas. For example compare the 12% Gujarat growth rate to the 3-4% in the rest of the country.

I am not very much into politics so i cant say much, i can only tel that i agree with you on not being all shitty bout the Left. . . Very recently i had a long chat with a friend who is a Leftist in a very level headed way and the final outcome of the conversation was that the Left should always be there in the formation of the govt. As it will, in some way or the other, help keep the otherwise capitalist lords in check. . . .
if there is no Left, they would be all free in their ways . . . They will overdo the capitalism thingie. . .
not that left has a big fan following . . . Not even that left has a very big say in things. . .
but fir bhi. . . Left exists . . . And, at the end of the day, all existence matters.

of course, there are holes in every party, as in the Left so in Congress. .but that does not mean underplaying any one of the two.

i, personally, am all for Left, only if you bring me good Leaders, sensible Leftists. And that is something difficult, so can we let the topic pass for now. . .
i am, in fact, very much torn apart between the two parties. . I like both of them for different reasons. . . Both are devils . . . I have never had the chance of choosing which is the better devil, i haven cast a vote abhi tak. . . :(
