This will dispel the image created of Muslims as fanatics and terrorists, by vested interests.<BR/>It would have been better still if they had made an honest attempt to know the real facts and stood for justice!<BR/> The Amarnath Yatra is subsidized and lasts for a fortnight only.The<BR/>"proactive Governor": SK Sinha who took charge in 2003 extended it to "two months".Consequent to the heavy influx of yatris and the extended duration, the ecobalance around the cave got affected.The ice lingam could not be secured naturally in 2006 and 2007. Hence, artificial methods had to be adopted!<BR/> Since the Governor was also the chairman of the Shree Amarnath Shrine Board, the Governor and his secretary hastily transferred 100 acres of "forest lands" to the Board, quite disregarding the Supreme court rulings governing transfer of forest lands.<BR/> No Environment Impact assessment was nade nor the CEC' specific directive as regards that forestland was taken cognisance of!Hindu, Muslim and Sikh citizens protested against the illegal transfer on ecological considerations.The Huriyat stole the show by numbers!Hence, vested interests twisted the matter and concluded that the State Govt. has succunbed to Huriyat's pressure!<BR/> The state Govt. has taken the responsibility to take care of the Yatra and the the welfare of pilgrims.Kashimir muslims have a tradition of providing every help to the pilgrims.
