Dashed Hopes: After NEET paper leak, Uttar Pradesh youth Ritik Mishra who had expected to crack exam, just gave up

Ritik Mishra is no more. He just gave up. The body was found in his house in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. He had appeared in NEET, one of the toughest exams and was hopeful of his success.

Like many other young students who worked hard, studied for months but when the paper is leaked and the exam is cancelled, their hopes are dashed. Apparently, he couldn't bear to see all his effort go in vain.

It's tragic if youth take such an extreme step. The family is distraught, devastated.

The mafia that is involved in question paper leak, must be dealt with sternly. This must not happen. Parents need to sensitize children. The students are under pressure, agreed.

But they must be told that an examination is not the ultimate reward in life and there can be more options. Life is important. The family suffers after a youth takes such a step.

NEET is one of the toughest exams in the world and over two million students appear in it for selection in medical courses in India. Will tough action be taken against those who are involved in breaking the trust of students?

Focus on the gangs and the nexus that is responsible for paper leaks. The masterminds must not be allowed to get away! It is unfortunate that over petty crimes, media focuses hard and the goons involved in the offences are chased.

But in this case that has affected over two million students and their families, media coverage is poor. There is lack of serious reporting and no dedicated journalism is visible. All appears to be 'normal' on Indian TV and in the newspapers.

It is as if the pain of the students and the youth doesn't affect media. News about next dates and such announcements are of no value, unless the real culprits are caught and they are made to pay for their crimes. All those involved in this racket, must be charged under harsh sections so that they get arrested and are sent to jail.
