Azeemabad Express, Aligarh clash & misbehaviour with JNU Registrar

The weekly Azeembad Express train from Patna to Ahmedabad set off on its maiden run this week. Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav flagged off the train. Azeemabad is one of the ancient names of Patna and Lalu had recently made a suggestion to rename Patna. See the photo here:

Interestingly, the train goes to Ahmedabad, which the BJP government has been wishing to change to Karnavati. Through the pronounciation Amdavad and Amdavadi the Muslim-ness in the name has been reduced though, lately. An Urdu daily with the same name (Azimabad Express) is published from Patna for long time.

Meanwhile, there was trouble at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) where a students' altercation with a local builder took a violent turn. First, students and builders' men clashed. Later Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel also got involved and it took hours to normalise the situation. By then nearly 50 people including students and RAF personnel were injured. The photo of AMU students' pelting stones is here:

Also, a controversy over Jawaharlal Nehru University Registrar being caught by students and not allowed to offer namaz, has led to a controversy. For seven hours Owais Ahmad was kept besieged by DSU, SFI and AISA (leftist union) students. Newspaper reports mention the ordeal he went through. Later the senior leaders of leftist unions also regretted the incident.
