Dr Khalid Hameed, a Non Resident Indian (NRI), who was born in Lucknow, has been appointed a member of the House of Lords in England.
Hameed, who studied at Lucknow University, and migrated to UK in 1968, is a prominent hospital management expert and is appointed to Britain's Upper House for his his contribution to promotion of international understanding and development of young people.
One of the six new non-political party peers, Dr Khalid Hameed is also the High Sheriff of Greater London and Chairman of Alpha Hospitals and is involved in a number of organisations and charities which help develop harmony between diverse faiths and cultures in the U.K, according to a news agency.
