Indian Muslims are a forward community, ahead on social indicators: Exposing media's false propaganda regarding 'backwardness'

 

The Indian Muslims are a forward looking community. 

There is no doubt about it that despite challenges, Indian Muslims have moved ahead and progressed. 

Less in government jobs and lacking in resources, yet, Indian Muslims have established themselves in all spheres and all the fields. 

Quite often, we hear the term 'backward' linked to Muslims without any statistics or documentary proof.

In fact, on social indicators and as far as social evils and other regressive practices in society are concerned, these are less prevalent in Muslim community. Of course, community has less representation in government service [jobs] and politics. 

But, Indian Muslims, especially, Muslim women have also been stepping forward in education. Definitely, there was lack of resources and financially issues but Muslims still managed to stand up and today they are doing their best to move ahead.  

From Child marriages to Female Foeticide, there are so many indicators on which Indian Muslims fare better. In fact, female Feticide is a major issue in India. Similarly, when it comes to sex ratio, Indian Muslims fare better. 

In dowry deaths, other communities have a bad record and thousands of brides are burnt to death or made to commit suicide each year. Comparatively, there are dozens of other aspects too, that show how Muslims fare much better. 

The sole issue is that Muslims down have control over media and it shows a negative picture of Muslims. This website has a list of articles to show how Muslims have made efforts and giant strides in many fields in India, in recent years. However, the supposedly mainstream media continues to ignore the data and these positive changes.

Woman beheaded with sword for going to work, hurting 'Rajput pride' in Rajasthan: Regressive practices, atrocities on women in India

In a shocking incident, a man beheaded his daughter-in-law for defying 'Rajput traditions'.

The woman--Uma Rajput, was hacked to death by her father-in-law, as she 'dared to go out for work'.

In a patriarchal society, this had brought 'dishonour to his family', felt the accused. He publicly killed his daughter-in-law, by attacking her with a sword.

The incident took place in Alwar in Rajasthan. India Today reports, "The woman was on her way to work at a factory in Shahjahanpur village in Alwar district when her father-in-law brandished a sword and allegedly chopped her head off."

"As the woman was attacked, none of the passersby came forward to help her. She died on the spot. Subsequently, police took her body to the mortuary of the local hospital. The victim, identified as Uma, is survived by her husband Mukesh Rajput and two children", India Today further reports.

"Both Uma and Mukesh worked to run the family and provide for the education of their two children. When questioned, family members and neighbours of the woman said that her father-in-law Maamraj was upset with her for working in a factory", the report adds.

In fact, such incidents are so common that they don't make it to the state capitals, let alone getting discussed in news rooms. Also, they don't affect TV anchors who feel that TRP comes only if there is a issue that pits majority against minority, not inward looking or talking about reforms.

Child marriages in India: 27% girls are married before they turn 18

Child marriages are widely prevalent in India.

One of the biggest social evils, the practice of child marriage is yet to be checked in the country.

Millions of minors tie the knot every year because of social acceptance in several regions.

The latest figures suggest that 27 percent of girls, or nearly 1.5 million girls, get married before they turn 18 in India.

Though there has been a decline in number of child marriages in India, compared to last decade, the figure is still mind-boggling. In rural parts of the India, child marriages are more common.

In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and other North Indian states, tens of thousands of children are made to tie the nuptial knot on the day of 'Akshay Tritiya'.

UNICEF claims that the steps to check child marriages have brought the numbers down, yet, the practice is so widespread that it is difficult to stop it.

India leads the world in child marriages. It recorded six times more child marriages that Bangladesh. It is far ahead of Nigeria, Brazil and Ethiopia that are other countries on the list.

While India is on the top, the other countries in the list include Bangladesh, Nigeria, Brazil, Ethiopia
Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania. Clearly, in seventy years, India hasn't done enough to eradicate social evils. 

Not three or four, he married 55 women: Man who wedded 55 times, dies in Rajasthan

While most people barely get to marry once in their lifetime, Jiyaram Jat had 55 weddings in his life.

Jat, who hailed from Barmer in Rajastha, was a charlatan who kept marrying girls, one after the other.

Hindustan Times has reported his modus operandi which was unique. He operated in the part of Rajasthan where child marriage is rampant and the girl is married off at an early age.

However, the girl is not sent to groom's house for many years, until she gets mature. The 'gauna' ritual takes place later and hence when the groom comes, the girl doesn't recognise him as she was a child at the time of marriage.

Posing as groom, he would go to the bride's house, introduce himself as the husband, and would cohibit, before escaping with valuables from the house.

In areas, where women members of the household don't even speak to son-in-law, he took advantage of the customs. Most families won't report it, as they feared 'ignominy'.

The victims would not report in most cases, as an FIR would lead to the real groom's family getting to know about the incident.

Hence, he managed to continue his acts, for years. The first case was registered against him in 1994.

He had several cases of sexual harassment and molestation against him. Hindustan Times reports that Jat would only strike when women were alone in the house.

“He would walk into such households after nightfall and introduce himself as the girl’s husband.

Since she was married in childhood, she wouldn’t recognise him,” the officer said.

He would then cohibit with the bride, and decamp with the jewellery to be sent with the girl to her in-laws before daybreak.
