Leader of Mewat: Chaudhary Tayyab Husain who was elected to Assemblies in three different states and became minister as well

Shams Ur Rehman Alavi

Chaudhary Tayyab Husain is known for his leadership of the Meo community and for representing the region in Assemblies as well as parliament.

A prominent politician, he not only voiced aspirations of the people of the region and raised the demands of Meo community, but also took up the leadership role and led from the front, setting up schools, health facilities as well his role in the Meo College.

His father, Chaudhary Yasin Khan, was born in a farming family in Rehna village but with his hard work and determination, reached St Stephen's College and Aligarh Muslim University, then went on to practice law in Lahore before independence.

As leader of Meos, he became their voice. The Brayne* Meo school was set up. His drive to set up 'School every two miles' was an important step. He was a member of Unionist Party and legislator in undivided Punjab's Assembly for a long period, and was a unanimous leader of the Meos.

After independence, when there was violence and fear, he had brought Gandhi to Mewat and the latter gave a call to Meos to stay. Yasin Khan had joined Congress and was elected as MLA in Punjab in early 1950s.

Carrying the legacy of his illustrious father, Chaudhary Yasin Khan, the son--Tayyab Husain made his foray in politics in post-independent India. First, he was elected as MLA in Punjab Assembly. It was greater Punjab then and this also included Haryana.

Later, he was elected to Rajasthan and Haryana Assemblies. In fact, he was minister in all the three states, a unique record. Meos live in the region that is spread across Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and up to the Delhi's border-viz. Gurgaon.

Apart from being member of three State Assemblies, a unique feat, he was also elected to Parliament twice. He remained with Congress, though for a while, he was associated with Vishal Haryana Party. He had a long political career.

Tayyab Husain was barely 26 when he was made a deputy minister for health and PWD in Pratap Singh Kairon's government in Punjab. He became Chairman of Punjab Waqf Board in 1965. In 1966, he became member of Haryana Assembly, as the state was carved out of Punjab.

In 1970, his father passed away. After Yasin Khan's death, Tayyab Husain was bestowed the title of Chaudhry of 36 'biradiris' and the 'pugri', this honour came to him. A worthy successor to his father, he continued to guide the community in social, educational and political fields.

In 1971, he was elected to Lok Sabha from Gurgaon seat on Congress ticket. Then, in 1980, he was again elected to Lok Sabha from Faridabad. Besides, he represented the Tavdu seat later. In 1993, he was once again elected from another state--Rajasthan.

In Rajasthan too, he was made a minister and had portfolio of Agriculture, Health and Rural Development. Yasin Meo College is located in Nuh, Mewat. It was due to his efforts that became a major institution. He passed away in 2008. After Tayyab Husain, his next generation carries the legacy.

Yet another lynching bid in Alwar, Sagheer survives: Will Congress government in Rajasthan rein in the cow vigilantes?

Once again, a lynching bid in Rajasthan.

And once again, it's Alwar, the most notorious place as far as cow vigilantes' terror is concerned.

It's here that Rakbar Khan was set afire when the accused' kin shot a video.

It was in Alwar that Pahlu Khan was beaten and he died.

And, it is the same place where Umardeen was shot dead. Cow vigilantes' terror continues in the region. So what if the regime has changed!

Self-styled 'cow vigilantes' have the power to stop and thrash anyone without any fear of police. Mohammad Sagheer was suspected of involvement in cattle trade.

Hence, he was beaten up brutally. This incident occurred in Bagherikhurd in the district. Sagheer is admitted in the hospital. Police sources said that his condition is serious but improving.

Under BJP rule, Rajasthan witnessed series of lynchings and cow vigilantes' lawlessness. Rajasthan's reputation was hit as a result of these killings and terror. Now, Congress is in the power. Will it bring the law-and-order in control?

It is the Congress' responsibility now.

Right-wing fanatics on rampage, attack police, hoist Saffron flag on court

ABOVE THE LAW--that's what this picture clearly tells.

Saffron fanatics ran riot in Udaipur court, attacked police, injured 31 officials and personnel, pelted stones, barged into court and one of them unfurled his flag on the court.

They are supporting a monster--Shambhu Bhawani alias Shambhu Regar, who hacked an innocent man to death, and burnt him, got video shot and it was shared on social media.

Entire nation saw how the radicalised terrorist committed the murder of a Muslim man, just because of his religion. Throughout the year--2017, Muslims all over India have been killed by cow vigilantes and fanactis linked to the right-wing Hindutva ideology.

The picture of Shambhu Bhawani killing Afrazul was equated with that of a man killed by an ISIS terrorist in Syria. But there is a difference. India is not war-torn and it is still a democracy.

That's India in 2017.  No bullets or even rubber pellets were fired when the fanatics supporting Shambhu Bhawani went on rampage. There is open support being expressed in public for the person involved in the monstrous act.

Further, donations have been collected and money is being sent for help for Shambhu. Is this the India, our founding fathers dreamt of? Why there is no strong condemnation of this brazen killing and the manner in which support is being extended to the murderer?

*No strong statement from Chief Minister, Rajasthan as yet
*Forget BJP, even Opposition CONGRESS remains mum
*On the Udaipur rampage, attack on police and ruckus in court, NO WORD from Top Congress Leaders

Will Rajasthan showcase lynching incidents, extremists' arms training camps, extremists' acts to attract Tourists?

Rajasthan is considered among the most tourist friendly states in the country.

But lately, incidents of lynchings, mob attacks, vigilantism and right-wing group's terror camp is keeping it in the news.

Law-and-order seems to have collapsed in this state. An elderly man, Pahlu Khan, was lynched in Rajasthan.

But Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje didn't speak a word, despite wide criticism. Mob attacks and vigilantism are becoming increasingly common in the State.

People with saffron bands can attack a hotel, believing that it served beef (though lab tests later confirmed it was chicken) and thrash a woman, forcing her to say 'Jai Shree Ram'.

Then, Bajrang Dal activists openly impart arms' training to youngsters. A middle-aged man who tries to stop people from taking photographs of women who were going for defecation, gets lynched. The authorities aren't interested in taking action.

Is this how Rajasthan will showcase itself? The reputation of Rajasthan is getting sullied. The state is now getting known for crumbling law-and-order and reign of right-wing lumpens who seem to have become law unto themselves.

They may not be worried about innocents getting murdered and vigilantes taking over from police and administration. But do Union government and Rajasthan authorities realise the danger of such negative publicity?

Rajasthan seems to be giving competition to Jharkhand and UP in such incidents. In fact, it is faring worse.

Not three or four, he married 55 women: Man who wedded 55 times, dies in Rajasthan

While most people barely get to marry once in their lifetime, Jiyaram Jat had 55 weddings in his life.

Jat, who hailed from Barmer in Rajastha, was a charlatan who kept marrying girls, one after the other.

Hindustan Times has reported his modus operandi which was unique. He operated in the part of Rajasthan where child marriage is rampant and the girl is married off at an early age.

However, the girl is not sent to groom's house for many years, until she gets mature. The 'gauna' ritual takes place later and hence when the groom comes, the girl doesn't recognise him as she was a child at the time of marriage.

Posing as groom, he would go to the bride's house, introduce himself as the husband, and would cohibit, before escaping with valuables from the house.

In areas, where women members of the household don't even speak to son-in-law, he took advantage of the customs. Most families won't report it, as they feared 'ignominy'.

The victims would not report in most cases, as an FIR would lead to the real groom's family getting to know about the incident.

Hence, he managed to continue his acts, for years. The first case was registered against him in 1994.

He had several cases of sexual harassment and molestation against him. Hindustan Times reports that Jat would only strike when women were alone in the house.

“He would walk into such households after nightfall and introduce himself as the girl’s husband.

Since she was married in childhood, she wouldn’t recognise him,” the officer said.

He would then cohibit with the bride, and decamp with the jewellery to be sent with the girl to her in-laws before daybreak.

'Jungle Raj' in Rajasthan: Lawlessness, rise in atrocities on Dalits in BJP-ruled State

One after the other, shocking incidents of crimes and atrocities on the Dalits are being reported from Rajasthan.

The latest incident has occurred in Chittorgarh where three Dalit boys were stripped and beaten up publicly.

'Vigilante justice': Dalit boys stripped, beaten

The photographs are shocking and it is not proper to share them. Surprisingly, there has been no major action so far.

The boys were suspected of stealing, but the minors were publicly stripped--it is nothing but total lawlessness--The Rule of the Jungle.

Innocent Kashmiri students were arrested for no fault

This is the same district where Kashmiri students were arrested by police for no fault. There was a false allegation that they had cooked beef. It was finally proved that beef was not cooked at all.

However, police said that they had to arrest the youths for 'their safety' from the right-wing elements on the campus.

Doesn't it show that the Rajasthan police are subservient to the trouble-makers and the beef vigilantes. Innocents were made the accused?

Institutional killing: The case of Delta Meghwal

The murder of teenaged girl Delta Meghwal has also been a major case that shows the insensitivity of the administration.

It is a clear case of institutional murder where the Jain college management is clearly at fault.

The teenaged girl was sent to 'clean' a male instructor's room. She was later allegedly raped and then killed.

The role of the authorities is questionable as for days no action was taken. A bandh call has been given in Barmer, in this regard.

Isn't it Jungle-Raj in Rajasthan?
