When Hindu girls elope with Muslim boys or Muslim women marry Hindu youths: Inter-religious marriages in India

A Hindu girl and a Muslim youth [or vice-versa] elope and the result is that tension grips the entire town. If the girl is Hindu, the Bajrang Dal or other fringe organisations create a storm and demand that the girl is brought back while the culprit [youth] be arrested for kidnapping. It is later found that the girl and boy who had run away were adult and had married as per law. The affidavit was submitted in the court. In a recent case, the real bombshell comes when they find that: it was not the girl who converted but the boy who not only changed his name but also underwent 'Shuddhikaran' to become a Hindu. Now what! The loony organisations are left without an issue. So they demand that the couple should be handed over to them and they will do his 'Shuddikaran' and make him wear the sacred thread as it could be just a trick of a Muslim to increase the minority community population by 'luring innocent Hindu girls'. If a Muslim family gets a marriage invitation card published in Hindi, it may seem uncommon but not rare. However, Gulzar's marriage invitation card exactly looked like a Hindu family's wedding card. It not only had a design featuring Lord Ganesha but the language and the use of Sanskrit terms made it look distinct. That was the reason this card raised eyebrows. Many people lauded the spirit while some didn't approve of the change. The marriage occurred sometime back in Mandsaur, which is situated in Western Madhya Pradesh on the border of Rajasthan. Gulzar , a labourer, was married to Najma Bi. When he was asked by media persons, he said that he got his card printed in Hindi because most of his friends were Hindu and he wanted to send a message of communal harmony . Terror in the name of Cow: Muslim man killed in police custody in Jharkhand, state remains soft on cow vigilantes

Cow vigilantes continue to spread terror across the country. Minhaj Ansari, 22, is the latest victim of this form of terrorism. Ansari wasn't killed for consuming or carrying meat. He was murdered as he had shared 'objectionable photographs' of a calf on WhatsApp. It was no offence. No FIR was registered. In any case, no court or system is needed when cow vigilantes come into the picture. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Sonu Singh informed police and soon plain-clothed personnel picked up the 22-year-old Ansari. He was allegedly tortured in illegal detention and later died in police custody--a clear case of cop-cow vigilantes' nexus which has emerged in most parts of North India. Tharpakar: Hindu majority district in Pakistan!

Tharparkar's location in Pakistan adjoining India It was a surprise to know that a Hindu majority district still exists in Pakistan. Though there is a large Hindu population in the country, especially, in Sindh, we don't get to hear much news about the Pakistani Hindus. This is sad as many agencies and newspapers have correspondents stationed in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, but unfortunately they don't seem interested to focus on Hindu culture in Pakistan . In Mushairas, Munawwar Rana is one of the most popular poets across the country. A native of Rae Bareli, Rana grew up in Kolkata. His simple language, the idiom of North India and the generous use of Hindi words, are among the reasons for his popularity. Rana has attained wide acclaim for his couplets on 'maa.n' (Mother). Florida firing: Once name was known, 'terrorist' became 'gunman', headlines got diluted

What's in a name? Everything is the name now. A man began shooting indiscriminately at an airport in Florida in United States of America. The wire reports, tweets suddenly started appearing on smartphones. Soon it became clear that five persons had been killed and many more wounded. Till now, there was panic and everyone was worried what it might turn out to be. Mercifully, the killer was arrested soon. He was taken into custody. The person's identity was also known. Hindu wedding, Urdu card: Non-Muslim couple prints invitation card for marriage in Urdu

This is an invitation card in Urdu, which is not too uncommon in India. The only surprise here is that it is a Hindu marriage for which the invitation has been sent in Urdu. Not just the card has 'Bismillah' on the front cover but has the complete invitation in Urdu script. 'Noor-chashm' Dr Navneet got married to Dr Tejasvini recently. The card requests the guests to attend the 'daawat-e-ta'aam'. Caste composition of India: Percentage of different groups including Upper Castes, SCs & STs in the country

What's the caste composition of India? The recent controversy over reservation has once again opened the lid off India's caste cauldron. So, what is the percent of OBCs (Other Backward Castes) in India's population. The figures range from 40% to as high as 52%. In fact, it is also possible that the OBCs could number around 40% of Indian population. In some regions, the backward castes are landed communities and influential but have little presence in government jobs.
